Benwick Briefing 20.01.2023
Dear Parents/ Carers
Welcome to this week's Benwick Briefing.
Message from Mrs Talbot:
It's been a great, hard working week across the school and children are really making some fantastic progress. It's been very cold, however we have put lots of things in place for children at lunchtimes so they have the option to spend a little time out of the cold as well as run around in the sunshine. At lunchtimes across the week, we have library, craft club, nurture and indoor games with the sports coach available.
This week in assembly we looked at the life and work of Dr Martin Luther King and volunteers from Year 6 helped me present this assembly. We also had visitors from the Mental Health and wellbeing team who led an assembly for Year 1-6. They were really impressed with the children's engagement and understanding of strategies that help support wellbeing.
Behaviour in school: the vast majority of children in school behave really well and our therapeutic approach to behaviour has really supported this, particularly post covid. Where children have more challenges around behaviour, particularly linked to SEND, we work with the local authority and specialist practitioners around this, which is confidential is not visible to other children and parents. Our behaviour policy is on our website, however I have attached a parents leaflet which explains the Cambridgeshire Steps approach. We will be working with classes to make sure children understand how our policy works and also getting their feedback on behaviour in school.
Huge thanks to our FOBS team for working hard to arrange tonight's Film Night. They have lots planned for the rest of the year and are also planning an AGM soon, so you will have the opportunity to come along and support them.
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes - Mrs Talbot
Medicines in School
If your child needs to take medicine including inhalers during the school day we are happy to administer this or you can arrange a time administer it yourself. If you require us to do it then the medicine needs to be in its original packaging with the doctors/ pharmacist labels on clearly displaying your child's name and dosage. You also need to complete a Medication form which is available from the school office and attached here.
Sporting Achievements
Please don't forget to send us photos of your child showing their sporting achievements or wearing their extra-curricular sporting outfits. Please email your photo's to office@benwick.cambs.sch.uk or bring a photo to the school office by Wednesday 25th January.
Cambridgeshire Police
Message below from Cambridgeshire Police.
Dear parents / carers,
This year, Cambridgeshire Constabulary are celebrating the 20-year anniversary of eCops.
eCops began back in 2003 when an East Chesterton Sergeant wanted a way to keep local residents informed and up to date with what police were doing in their area.
It started as a simple email to all East Chesterton residents and has developed and grown over the past 20 years to an advanced system used by around 19,000 people across the county.
It is free and easy to sign up, and subscribers can register according to their location and interests, reducing information overload and ensuring that they receive targeted alerts that are focused on their own area and interests.
Messages can include crime news, information about crime happening locally, crime prevention advice, details about local incidents and appeals for help in reducing crime in the county.
Members can also reply to alerts, providing a quick and easy two-way communication between yourself and your local officers. You can tell us about your concerns, to help us police your neighbourhoods effectively.
As a parent / carer to a young person in Cambridgeshire, we recommend that everyone subscribes to eCops to be more aware of crime happening in your area, therefore being in a better position to protect yourself and your family against crime.
Sign up in seconds at www.ecops.org.uk
Kind regards,
Cambridgeshire Constabulary
